1. What is this "sell on Amazon" thing all about?
If you haven’t heard by now, Amazon is only one of the world’s largest online marketplaces where you can buy almost anything. Because of it’s size and reach, Amazon is able to offer opportunities to regular folks to also sell things on their platform.
What makes it better than other marketplaces like eBay, Etsy, etc.is that Amazon will also ship items to customers on your behalf. They call this Fulfillment by Amazon. Basically you just need to send items to Amazon, and when people place orders for them, Amazon handles the picking, packing, shipping, and customer service!
Sweet deal huh?
2. Awesome! So can I just buy from my online retailer and have them ship to Amazon for me?
Not so fast buckaroo!
That indeed would be an awesome plan, but Amazon requires that you do some prep work before sending your products their way. Your products need to be labeled so that when they are scanned at the Amazon warehouses, they know it belongs to you and not someone else.
Also, when sending in products, Amazon has a specific way that you need to do this. You’ll need to tell Amazon exactly what is shipping in, how many units, the weight and measurements of the boxes that you’ll be shipping, and Amazon will also direct you on where to ship these products.
If that wasn’t enough, you may not get to ship all of you units to one place. Amazon tells you what you can ship to any particular warehouse, and how many units of each products to ship there. Yikes!
Retailers like Target and Walmart are not equipped to do this because they primarily sell to consumers who actually use the goods — not necessarily resell them for profit.
3. So how do people do this? It sounds hard!
Many people have purchased the tools and resources to prep their products from home. This is a great choice for beginners, but as you sell more and more, your house will quickly be overtaken by boxes. Scales. Tape. More boxes. Labels. Label printers.
And more boxes.
We started this way. But it didn’t last long before we outgrew our small apartment and upset the leasing office with tons of pickups and deliveries.
4. Um, so I need an office or a large house now?
You could do that, but there are much easier ways to prep your items without investing a ton in printers, labels, and new forms of housing.
Enter Profit Gopher: an Amazon prep center, and your new best friend helping you make money on Amazon!
5. What is a prep center, and why do I need one?
A prep center is a place that receives the items that you order from Target, Walmart, eBay, or any online retailer, then prepares the products according to Amazon specifications before shipping to one of their warehouses.
Profit Gopher is a prep center.
We do all of the unglamorous work of receiving, labeling, measuring and weighing boxes, etc. so that they are ready to be shipped and sold by Amazon once they arrive at their warehouse (also called fulfillment centers). All of this is done on your behalf, without any intervention from you after you order your items!
6. Why should I trust you guys?
As stated before, we started our journey of selling on Amazon just like any other seller. When we started selling, many things like taking box measurements and telling Amazon exactly what products and how many of them are in each box were not required.
That was a long time ago!
Since we have done this for so long, that means we know the ins and outs of the system, and how to quickly and efficiently prep and ship products to Amazon. We took that knowledge and applied it to help other sellers do the same thing. We can also do this for you!
7. Ok, ok, but are you guys overwhelmed helping so many sellers? How quick is your prep service?
We don’t get overwhelmed because we have a great team that has been trained by seasoned veterans!
We have two levels of service: our subscribers (we call them prepscribers) get our fastest service, in which we will ship your products to Amazon up to 36 hours from the day we receive them (for smaller orders, this time is usually much shorter, many times same day!).
A la carte customers get their items prepped between 24-48 hours from the time we receive your products. In addition, your items ship after your invoices are paid, so there could be an additional wait time due to that (subscribers do not have this delay).
8. Ok, I think I've read enough. How do I get started?
The fastest way to get started is to purchase a Prepscription! We have several different choices to meet your needs and where you currently are in your business, from the beginner to brands looking to outsource or complement their current operations.
Prepscriptions are the fastest way to get started. Click here to learn more and to sign up!
Alternatively, a la carte clients can click here to sign up for invoiced services.
